levi had just stepped into the cool night air when he noticed footsteps behind him. He instantly recognised it as (Names) familiar tread. He carried on walking, letting her think he couldn't hear her, and walked to the stables. He was feeding his horse a sugar cube when he heard a timid;
"C-captain Levi? P-please, it's about tomorrow". Tomorrow. The day of the expedition, and the cause of Levis' frequent nightmares.
"y-yes?" He spoke, using a cough to try and disguise the hitch in his throat. (Name) opened the stable door and stepped in, closing the door behind her.
"S-sir, I'm really worried about the expedition, I- I do't know what to do". Her voice came out quietly and the fear in her eyes rooted Levi to the spot, causing him to be unable to move, or speak. He silently watched her ad waited for her to continue.
"It's my first expedition.What if I let my squad down? What I'm an annoyance, and not an asset? What if-" Levi, who could't bear to hear her voice, so full of fear, and what he could only call self loathing, interrupted.
"Yes this is your first expedition. But that's the only true statement you made. You're a talented soldier, who is willing to give your life for humanity. You proved that by joining the survey corps. You would never become a hindrance. You're in my squad for fuck sake. I don't allow liabilities onto my squad. Besides, I'll be there with you..." He tailed off, unsure whether he had said to much, revealed too much of what he felt. But (Name) smiled up at him, (E/C) filled with something he could only place as gratitude.
"Thank you sir" she spoke much more confidently. She straightened, saluted her squad leader and disappeared into the night.
"FUCK" Levi yelled, kicking a hay barrel and causing his horse to rear. He made a promise he didn't know if he could keep. He collapsed onto the floor not sure whether to scream or weep.
